The Sweetness Of A Thank you

My heart was full of joy and my day was made brighter all because of just one statement “Thank you”☺️. How do you feel when someone thanks you? For me the past few days, I have been thanked unexpectedly for unexpected things😳. If you’re like me, I don’t know how to act when I am thanked, I’m rather very awkward 😅 and just simply end up thanking them for thanking me🤣🤷🏾‍♀️. However, at the same time, I can’t help but be filled with a sense of joy😊😁. I bet some of you feel the same when thanked for something, it really just makes your day and you fill more positive and all in all in good vibes for the rest of the day🌸✨. So can you imagine how sweet our thanks is to God?

The sweetness of a thank you has the power to change one’s mood and course for the day. How does our thankfulness to God change His mood? does it give Him that sweetness?
As I began to wonder about this, something happened, I was reading my daily bible scripture and surprise surprise it was a passage on praising God.

David’s Song of Thanksgiving
“On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the LORD:
Oh, give thanks to the LORD!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!
Seek the LORD and His strength;
Seek His face evermore!” (1 Chronicles 16:7-11, NKJV)

“For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised;
He is also to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
But the LORD made the heavens.
Honor and majesty are before Him;
Strength and gladness are in His place.” (1 Chronicles 16:25-27, NKJV)

“Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.” (1 Chronicles 16:34, NKJV)

This caused a smile on my face 😏 I knew God was talking 😊because not only did it show how great God is but it also showed the importance of giving thanks to God. I think it is safe to say that the notion of giving thanks to God is mentioned multiple times in the bible and is a standard practice for a Christian to give thanks to God. But how often do we do this?

Especially now when we are facing such hard times in this pandemic. If you’re like me living in Australia, it went from fires 🔥 and floods 🌊 to a pandemic 😷 , I mean seriously! Who has the time to be thankful right?😰

In times like these, we are more inclined to question God as to why such things are happening🧐🤨. We become very consumed with our current situations 😫 trying to find man-made solutions when the key to our victory is in Him😲.
Would it then not be easier to trust God and give Him thanks through the good and the bad?🤔

Let’s dive a bit into the evidence of thanks (offering/sacrifice) by the Israelites that was a sweet aroma to the Lord.

“And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.” (Genesis 8:21, NKJV)

“I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.” (Ezekiel 20:41, NKJV)

“and you make an offering by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or in your appointed feasts, to make a sweet aroma to the LORD, from the herd or the flock,” (Numbers 15:3, NKJV)

In these passages, people were giving thanks to God through their sacrifices and offerings and these were SWEET aromas to God, it pleased Him. And this provoked action from God. Firstly God promised never again to curse the earth. The others swayed God time and time again to forgive and save the Israelites and to keep His promise that He made with Abraham.

Giving thanks is a sweet aroma to God and it causing blessings in many ways.
Now I’m not saying give thanks expecting to get blessing back, no🙅🏾‍♀️, simply just give thanks to God sincerely showing your love towards Him and trust in Him🙏🏾🙌🏾.
These sweet aromas will allow God to work in our lives and continue to bless us even during these times.

I encourage you all today for the next seven days can you give thanks to God, not asking for anything but just recognising Him for who He is and giving thanks.

Okay I know we cannot sacrifice animals, make fires and offer them as they did back in the day but we can offer our thanks to Him through our lips.

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” (Hebrews 13:15, NKJV)

Note: To make it easier you can start on Monday or Sunday whenever your week begins and give thanks to God for the whole week.

ROCK, FORTRESS, SAVIOUR

Seems like COVID-19 has taken a liking to planet Earth and is not going anywhere anytime soon😤. Since this pandemic, I have gotten a lot busier😵 or maybe to better suit a lot more distracted🤫 and sulking over the fact that pretty much all my plans have been ruined😩😭. Furthermore, there has been more chaos around the world on top of coronavirus, I mean give us a break 2020😪. I think I can speak for the majority when I say COVID-19 we are sick and tired of you and its time for you to pack your bags and leave! 👉🏾💼 👋🏾

Okay, before I get carried away ranting😝, the purpose of this post was to encourage somebody today. During this week as I was doing my usual sulking, I was reminded by the book of 2nd Samuel that our trust is in God. David sang a song to the Lord when he was given victory over his enemies and it was a song that expressed his faith and trust in God.

“Then David spoke to the Lord the words of this song, on the day when the Lord had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence.” (2 Samuel 22:1-3, NKJV).

This passage encouraged me to have faith in God and that even during this pandemic the Lord is our ROCK, our FORTRESS and our SAVIOUR, He will deliver us🙏🏾✨. Moreover, God will continue to strengthen us and protect us in this time as His children.

Today instead of focusing on how COVID-19 has ruined our lives lets sing this song of David and already declare our victory because our faith and trust is in God.

NOTE: you can read the whole of 2 Samuel 22 but it was rather long to add all at once so here are some verses that inspired me.

Praise for God’s Deliverance
“Then David spoke to the LORD the words of this song, on the day when the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
The God of my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation,
My stronghold and my refuge;
My Savior, You save me from violence.” (2 Samuel 22:1-3, NKJV)

“In my distress I called upon the LORD,
And cried out to my God;
He heard my voice from His temple,
And my cry entered His ears.” (2 Samuel 22:7, NKJV)

““He sent from above, He took me,
He drew me out of many waters.” (2 Samuel 22:17, NKJV)

“He also brought me out into a broad place;
He delivered me because He delighted in me.” (2 Samuel 22:20, NKJV)

“For You are my lamp, O LORD;
The LORD shall enlighten my darkness.
For by You I can run against a troop;
By my God I can leap over a wall.
As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
“For who is God, except the LORD?
And who is a rock, except our God?
God is my strength and power,
And He makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places. ” (2 Samuel 22:29-34, NKJV)

I don’t know what you are going through during this pandemic but I hope this encourages you to trust in the Lord God who is your rock, fortress and saviour.

10 Bible Verses Glorifying God

Glory to God in the highest🙌🏾🙏🏾✨

This week God has been so good in my life that I just felt an overwhelming sense of glorifying Him. Glorifying about who He is, what He has done and what He will do😩🙌🏾. I don’t know if y’all get like this too but the feeling are so real 😭

Glorifying God is an important part of a Christian’s life and God is very pleased when we give Him his due praise. We sometimes get so wrapped up in our lives and situations that we end up only praying about what WE want and OUR needs and forget to thank God on what we already have and what HE has already done. That’s why it’s important to set aside even a day to just give God glory, praising Him in prayer and song ✨ .

Prayer: Can be telling Him who He is by referring back to what the word (the bible) says about God. And glorifying all the goodness He has done on earth and in your life.

Song: Singing praises unto Him and worshipping Him. These songs can be ones you know that really emphasis on who God is and how great He is.

Here are 10 Bible verses glorifying God that will help you to understand the importance of glorifying Him and also can be included in your prayers and songs.

  3. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21, NKJV)
  4. “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.” (Hebrews 13:15-16, NKJV)
  5. “And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke, saying: ‘By those who come near Me, I must be regarded as holy; And before all the people, I must be glorified.’ ” (Leviticus 10:3, NKJV)

The Spirit Of Fear

FEAR. False Evidence Appearing Real, a saying that caught my attention when I first heard it. I began to question why do I fear? what is it that I fear? 🤔

Fear is something we formulate in our minds, things we convince ourselves are real and a great threat to our living being. THAT’S CRAZY RIGHT! Like why does our mind have to go and play us like that?😤Haha but sadly that is the truth about fear and the power of the mind. Isn’t it written, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7). This is why even inspirational/motivational speakers stress on the topic of personal development and creating a positive mindset (but this is a conversation for another day☺️).

Think about what you fear the most, I know everyone has many fears and we toss this word around a lot like a ball. However, have you ever really sat down and thought, what is my BIGGEST fear? and why?

What are the actual thoughts that lead you to believe this is your greatest fear? If you come up with the answers please let me know.

Even myself I struggle to think why I fear what I fear😩. It has become a norm to accept what we fear as a way of life, like yea this is who I am, I fear this and that.

Well here is the funny bit, wait for it…

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear…” (2 Timothy 1:7).

Fear is a SPIRIT, WAAHHHAT🤯 I know but stay with me though. Fear is a spirit that takes a hold on our minds, puts a blanket over our eyes and makes us believe in a reality that is not the true reality that God has placed for us. This spirit likes to come in slowly and discretely, it will keep feeding you fear slowly and slowly that by the time you realise what’s going on it’s already taken hold. This is when it becomes very difficult to break.

Today I challenge you to look at your life? what are you fearing right now the most? I know even with the coronavirus there is a lot of alarm and fear and this is the perfect playing ground for the spirit, but I want you to sit down make a list of your top 3 fears, acknowledge them, understand them by asking the question at the beginning of this post.

And I want you to decide to make the necessary steps to break that fear.

During the coming weeks, we will be going on a journey to breaking fear. 💪🏾💪🏾

Look To God

Okay, so Rona (coronavirus) has been running mad and causing a lot of havoc😤. Like seriously to the point people are turning into savages and fighting over toilet paper ?!?!? 🤯

The whole world is filled with more fear now than ever and I think we can confidently say that 2020 is not getting off to a great start😕.

From extreme fires and floods in Australia to what looks like the start of world war 3 and now RONA!! I mean come on now we need a break and its only MARCH🤦🏾‍♀️. It’s quite understandable why people are panicking the way they are doing. It’s looking like the end of the world is near.

But hold on, wait a minute, isn’t this what God was speaking of

“When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:13-14)

God is waiting on us to realise that during all this chaos He is the able one. Not by our might or power but through His spirit, we need to humble ourselves and pray for the nations and ourselves.

“So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the Lord of hosts.” (Zechariah 4:6).

Only He has the power because all things belong to Him and there is nothing impossible for Him. It’s time we cling more to God and depend on Him in these times.

I encourage you all to look onto the lord! ✨

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” (Psalm 20:7)
