“The words of your mouth are very powerful” 🗣🗣 that’s what my mum always said growing up and sure enough it caught on with the whole family. The funny thing was when I was younger my siblings and I used it when we were teasing each other. If one said jokingly “you’re dumb😝” the other would respond ” Hey! don’t say that the words of your mouth are very powerful!😤😂”. As I look back at it now we probably didn’t realise the true power and truth in that statement.
“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; From the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”(Proverbs 18:20-21)
When we look at the creation of the world and beginning of life, it all started with spoken words “Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.”(Genesis 1:3). Isn’t that amazing😲, God could have done everything by Himself, the verses could have said then God DID this then God DID that. But no God knew there was going to be a time as this when He needed us to understand the importance of what proceeds out of our mouths and what we speak into existence🙏🏾.
Words are so powerful that we sometimes don’t realise how they consistently form the lives we live. If you say you’re poor, guess what you will continue to be poor, if you say you’re successful, guess what you will be successful. The words we form do not discriminate they can bring both bad and good things into existence. That’s why we have to be cautious of what we are speaking into our own lives. Shift what you say about your situations, speak life into your situations, not death.
Even as mentioned in my previous post (Look to God) about coronavirus, we must speak life, God is beckoning us to use that which is so powerful, the words of our mouth to speak life into this world, to humble ourselves to Him and cry out (speak) to Him.
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”(2 Chronicles 7:14)
Let us speak to the Lord words that will spring life back to the world, not death.
I challenge you today to reflect on the words you have spoken into your life. What is it that you say to others and yourself about your situations? Is it something that must change?
And let us all speak life to the nations in these times of COVID-19 that God may hear our cries and deliver us.
Stay blessed the most stylish way possible, being the you that God made you to be 😊
